Job Description

Humotech is seeking a dynamic and experienced Sales Director to lead our sales efforts, refine our sales process, build our sales team, support expansion into new markets, and help to define and achieve quantifiable sales growth. The position will be focused on inbound sales primarily, as the company’s revenue growth has primarily been driven by warm leads up until now, but is expected to expand into account management and outbound sales over time. The ideal candidate will leverage a robust sales background and possess a passion for researching current and past developments in the field of wearable machine technology, developing a deep understanding of market leaders/trends/opportunities, a strong desire to work with our small team to deliver best-in-class solutions, and a hunger to pursue growth in a lean and agile way.

 

Core Responsibilities

Sales Execution
  • Execute sales plans, update forecasts, and inform budgets, ensuring the sales effort is aligned with company goals and objectives, and recommend improvements over time.
  • Evaluating leads, with a focus on inbound, to determine if they are a good fit for the company’s products and services based on criteria such as budget, needs, and timeline.
  • Scheduling meetings or demos for the sales team to follow-up on, with a specific focus on qualified leads.
  • Generating lead generation reports, including metrics, conversion rates and revenue generated. Understanding and evaluating closed-lost and closed-won opportunities. Provide regular updates to management.
Building a Team That Scales
  • The ideal candidate will be comfortable starting as a single-person sales team and over time, work with the CEO and COO to develop, lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Market Research and Analysis
  • Conduct thorough market research to stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities.
  • Analyze sales data and performance metrics to make informed decisions and optimize sales processes.
  • Gather and analyze customer feedback to inform product development and sales strategies.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Alignment
  • Collaborate closely with the engineering and product development teams to align sales strategies with product capabilities and innovation.
  • Ensure all internal hand-offs are made throughout the sales process and represent the voice of the customer in internal meetings
  • Work with marketing to develop compelling sales materials, campaigns, and lead generation initiatives.
  • Coordinate with customer success and support teams to ensure seamless post-sale experiences and customer satisfaction.
Customer Relationship Management
  • Oversee the entire sales cycle, from lead generation and qualification to closing deals and post-sale support.
  • Build and maintaining relationships with customers and prospects to establish trust, credibility and commitments
  • Follow up and communicate with prospects and customers quickly and effectively and document interactions for internal knowledge building

 

Growth Opportunities

Sales Strategy
  • Collaborate with CEO and COO to refine sales strategy to drive revenue growth and expansion into new markets
Team Leadership and Development
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and performance.
  • Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews.
Customer Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders. Collaborate with CEO and COO to develop account management function within the company.
  • Represent Humotech at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote our products and brand.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. Technical curiosity and passion for our domain will be essential for effectively communicating with customers and internal tech teams.
  • Proven track record of success in a sales role, preferably within the wearable technology, medical device, scientific equipment, or related industry.
  • Must be comfortable owning  the full sales funnel for 1-3 years as the company grows and builds capacity to hire additional sales team members.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive sales performance to achieve quantitative growth targets.
  • Expertise in using modern cloud-based CRM software and other sales tools to manage customer relationships and sales activities in a highly organized and efficient manner.
  • The ideal candidate would work regularly at Humotech’s offices in Pittsburgh but hybrid candidates who would be able to travel to Pittsburgh at least once per month will be considered.
