Carl Curran, MS
Principal Design Engineer
Carl realized the need for more effective prostheses and exoskeletons early on—his uncle is an amputee and his grandfather required the use of a wheelchair after experiencing a stroke—but he admits that the real reason he became a mechanical engineer with a robotics emphasis is the opportunity to bring the dreams of science fiction into reality. An alum of Carnegie Mellon University, Carl is excited by the challenges of tough problems and inspired by what happens when all the technical aspects of a design finally integrate into one system, and an inanimate object springs to life. He is driven by the desire to maximize the potential of systems by focusing on how the whole system is greater than the sum of the products.
