About Humotech
Humotech was founded in 2015 as a spin-out from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Its inception was driven by a critical need for evidence-based tools to advance wearable technology, including prosthetics, orthotics, and exoskeletons. The founding team recognized that traditional development methods lacked the ability to rapidly test and refine new designs, often relying on costly and time-consuming trial-and-error.
To address this gap, Humotech developed the Caplex® System, a modular platform that enables real-time emulation and data capture. This system empowers researchers and clinicians to evaluate and optimize assistive device performance before physical prototypes are built, significantly reducing development cycles and improving outcomes.
Over the past decade, Humotech has grown into a trusted partner for more than 37 research institutions across the United States, Canada, and Europe, delivering evidence-based insights that shape mobility innovation.
Today, Humotech is expanding into clinical markets, equipping prosthetists and clinicians with tools for personalized, data-driven care—bridging the gap between robotics R&D and real-world clinical application.
